Off-field antics take centre stage as England star Leon Pryce appears in court on an assault charge, along with Warrington Wolves full-back Stuart Reardon. Reardon pleads guilty to assaulting his estranged wife while Pryce admits assaulting her new partner Damon O'Brien in the same incident. The judge warns the pair to expect a custodial sentence and the case runs until April.
On the field, Pryce's St Helens meet Leeds for the first time in the season, but Saints prove too explosive, scoring five tries in a 26-18 victory. Other highlights of the month see the lowest-scoring match in Super League history, a 4-0 win for Saints over Celtic Crusaders.
Finally, tragedy strikes Super League as Wakefield's Leon Walker collapses and dies after making a tackle during a reserve game for the club.
